Have we explored every possible genre to find good funk & soul music - Soundtracks, Librarys, Brasil, Africa & The Caribbean. Over the past few years some of us have been exploring Gospel as another area to find the groove. There have been a few gospel records which have crossed over to the disco dancefloor back in the day Tramaine,vClark Sisters, Joubert Singers & Alicia Myers to name a few but this is an area which also has a rich vein of Soul & Funk tunes with a different lyrical subject matter. Of course many great soul singers started out (and sometimes end up back) in the church but here I am talking about Gospel LPs where the group decided to try to be hip and reach out to the people by getting a groove going. Most of these LPs were pressed in limited numbers for the local audience and so are rare. So it is time for me to let the cat out of the bible and share the word of the lord.
