Rap was originally almost exclusively on 12-inch format. But in the second half of the eighties a few great rap LPs appeared like ATTQ's People's Instinctive Travels, the Jungle Brothers' Done By The forces Of Nature and Main Source's Breaking Atoms. These were complete albums and could be listened to as a complete experience, not just a collection of singles with a few filler tracks. Of course there are also rap LPs, as in all genres, which are not great LPs in themselves but have one or two hidden gems on them. There are also some compilation LPs which can be a cheaper way to get a rare tune on vinyl or have unreleased tracks on and also label comps which can be of interest to label collectors. The selection here covers all eras of hip hop, rap and electro.
